Locality:About 1.5 miles south of US 41, on the east side of the L-67 ext. canal levee.
Comments:Observed at 10:20 hrs in a loose coil with the head and forward 1/3 or so of the body in shade, and the rest of the body in full sun. Very warm out, with air temp in upper 80s. Caught and killed by SFWMD employee R. Hill. Hill and Snow examined the carcass on May 8th. This female python measured 16.2 feet (Total Length) and weighed 117 pounds. She had 59 large oviductal eggs. All fertile, with very small embryos. Stomach was empty, and a moderate amount of fecal material was collected from the lower GI tract, however nothing was immediately identifiable. Contents retained for further examination.
