Plants on the list can directly and indirectly impact bio-diversity,
water recharge, filtering, aesthetics and degrade the areas use for scientific
study and recreation, This has been proven using objective research. I have
questions regarding Connecticut's adopted Invasive and Potentially Invasive
Plant List. The questions are:
If all municipalities and towns are ruled by Connecticut's General
Statutes and in turn all Inland Wetland Commissions are responsible to the state
to limit the impact and protect (per written regulations) wetland areas,
should potentially invasive or invasive plants on the list also be banned from
being planted in new developments, businesses and subdivisions near wetland areas?
Should Connecticut's Invasive Plant Council recommend to the
Environment Committee to make a regulation change to water course committees to include
this protection, to include fines for intentional introduction of these
species to compensate for clean up costs?
