Artemisia stelleriana is an erect, evergreen herbaceous plant in the sunflower family that grows to 2 ft. (0.6 m) tall by 3 ft. (0.9 m) wide. It has creeping stems. It is native to Russia, Alaska.
Foliage
Alternate whitish gray to pale green felt-like leaves about 2-4 in. (5-10 cm) long by 1 in. (2.54 cm) wide. Leaves may have one or more rounded lobes, they are covered with dense white hairs and are often faintly aromatic.
Flowers
Tight clusters of rounded yellow flowers (disk flowers only) are held along the stem. Blooms from August through September.
Fruit
Seed are small brown and not quite linear (slightly curved).
Ecological Threat
A. stelleriana prefers full to partial sun, sandy, and well-drained soil. It can be found in sand dunes and along the seacoast.
