Origin
Gekko gecko is native to southeast and east Asia. Tokay gecko were introduced to the United States through the pet trade or on cargo shipments.

Life Cycle
Male G. gecko are larger than females with a length of 13-16 in. (35-40 cm) and 8-12 in. (20-30 cm), respectively. Color variations occur as red spotted or black spotted. G. gecko are arboreal species that primarily prey on invertebrates. Foraging occurs at night where individuals are likely to ambush. Reproduction occurs 4-6 months with males attracting females through vocalizations. Eggs are laid on a hard foundation and protected until hatching.

Distribution
Tokay gecko are established in Florida in and around dwellings.

The effects of G. gecko on native species is unknown.
