Origin
Amazona ochrocephala is native to Mexico and South America. Yellow-crowned parrot were introduced to the United States as escaped or intentionally released pets.

Life Cycle
Adult A. ochrocephala plumage is primarily green with black and yellow markings on the head and face. A distinctive marking includes yellow feathers directly above the beak. Yellow-crowned parrots are approximately 14 in. (35 cm) in length, has a wingspan 8.3 in. (21 cm), and a weight of 1.1 lb. (483 g). Female A. ochrocephala lay 2-4 eggs per clutch with incubation taking 25 days. Young chicks fledge the nest approximately 56 days after hatching. Sexual maturity is reached at 2-4 years of age. The lifespan of A. ochrocephala in the wild is unknown.

Distribution
A. ochrocephala are established in California and southern Florida.

A. ochrocephala can be agricultural pests because of their opportunistic feeding habits.
