Origin
Amazona oratrix is native to Mexico and northern Central America. Yellow-headed parrots were introduced to the United States as escaped or intentionally released pets.
Life Cycle
A. oratrix is primarily green in plumage with bright yellow feathers on the head, nape, and chin with scattered yellow and red feathers on the shoulders. Adult yellow-headed parrots are 14-15 in. (36-38 cm) in length and 17.5 oz (500 g) in weight. A. oratrix are found in large flocks outside of breeding season. Females lay 2- 4 eggs in a nest. Incubation is approximately 26 days with hatchlings fledging the nest after 9 weeks.

A. oratrix are found in California, Florida, and Puerto Rico.
