Origin
Aratinga weddellii is native to South America. Dusky-headed parakeet were introduced to the United States as escaped or intentionally released pets.

Life Cycle
Adult A. weddellii plumage is primarily green on the body with a gray-brown head and tail feathers have a blue tip. Dusky-headed parakeets are 11 in. (28 cm) in length and 3.3-4 oz (95-115 g) in weight. A. weddellii are found in pairs during the breeding season and small flocks outside of breeding. Females lay 3-4 eggs per clutch in tree cavities or arboreal termite nests. Incubation lasts approximately 25 days. Hatchlings fledge the nest between 8-9 weeks after hatching.

Distribution
A. weddellii are found in southern Florida.
