Appearance
Aeginetia spp. is a genus that is composed of fleshy annual plants that are root parasites. They get up to about 19.7 in. (50 cm) tall and lack chlorophyll.
Foliage
The leaves are sparse at the base of the stem. They are usually glabrous and ovate-lanceolate to lanceolate in shape. Leaves may or may not be reddish in color.
Flowers
The flowers are large and can be solitary or clustered at stem tip.
Fruit
The fruit is a capsule containing many tiny seeds. The elliptic to ovate shaped seeds are yellowish to light brown in color.
Ecological Threat
Aeginetia spp. can be found infesting low mountain slopes, grassy lowlands, swampy ground, forests, and along roadsides.
