Origin
Aratinga holochlora is native to Mexico and Central America. Green parakeets were introduced to the United States as escaped or intentionally released pets.

Life Cycle
Adult A. holochlora plumage is mostly green and eye rings are reddish-grey in color. Green parakeets are approximately 12.6 in. (32 cm) in length. A. holochlora diets consist of seeds and fruit. During the breeding season, pairs often nest in tree cavities where females lay 3-4 eggs. Outside breeding, birds form large communal roosts.

Distribution
A. holochlora are established in several cities in Texas and Florida.

Control Efforts
Green parakeet are sometimes considered pests to agricultural crops.
