Origin
Aratinga leucophthalmus is native to South America. White-eyed parakeet were introduced to the United States as escaped or intentionally released pets.

Life Cycle
Adult A. leucophthalmus plumage is primarily green with red feathers on the shoulders and red speckles on the head and neck. Juvenile A. leucophthalmus have no red and yellow speckles. Parakeets are approximately 12.5 in. (32 cm) in length with a wingspan range of 6.5-7.5 in. (166-188 mm). White-eyed parakeet diets consist of fruit, seeds, vegetation, nuts, and insects. During the breeding season, parakeets are found in pairs or family groups. Females lay 3-4 eggs per clutch.

Distribution
A. leucophthalmus has been found in Florida.
