Origin
Pogona vitticeps is native to Australia. Bearded dragon were introduced to the United States as escaped or intentionally released pets from the pet trade.

Life Cycle
Bearded dragons are 13-24 in. (33-61 cm) in length and are appropriately named because of their expandable, spikey throat patch. Coloration is dependent on soil with color ranging from dull brown to tan with red or gold highlights. Male P. vitticeps are aggressive to other males during the breeding season. Both sexes will assert dominance, or show aggression, by inflating their beards. Females lay at most 24 eggs in a clutch with up to 9 clutches per year. P. vitticeps are omnivores that eat plants, insects, and small vertebrates.

Distribution
P. vitticeps is found in Florida.

Control Efforts
The effects of introduced P. vitticeps is largely unknown.
