Appearance

Nicotiana glauca is a perennial shrub or small tree that can grow up to 25 ft. (7.6 m) tall.

Foliage

Leaves are alternate, bluish to gray green in color, 1-4 in. (2.5-10.2 cm) long, pointed, and elliptic to oval shaped.

Flowers

Flowers are yellow, tubular, 1.25-2 in. (3.2-5 cm) long, and found in clusters at the end of the branches. Flowers bloom from early spring to late summer.

Fruit

Fruits are egg-shaped, 0.28-0.39 in. (7-10 mm) long, and has two compartments. Seeds are very small and dark brown in color.

Ecological Threat

N. glauca prefers open sites including stream beds, and roadsides. It is native to South America. All parts of Nicotiana glauca are extremely poisonous.
